Step 3: The tops of the cover will require a bit more attention, unlike its underside, which can be kept clean with a gentle rinse with the hose. The top of the cover should be sprayed with a vinyl cleaner or mild vinegar and water solution. Step 4: Once done, rinse the top of the cover well to eliminate all traces of the cleanser. Then, wipe it down with a soft, absorbent rag or a microfiber cloth. Leave it to air dry.
Step 5: Lastly, use a good quality UV vinyl protectant spray across the entire surface of the cover. These sprays offer effective protection from the sun’s damaging rays and prevent the cover from drying and cracking. Once the spray has dried, reattach the cover to the hot tub.
Check the hot tub cover regularly for small rips and checks. If any, repair them immediately. Even the tiny tears can leave the cover’s inner foam exposed to the elements and cause it to soak moisture from rain, eventually becoming waterlogged. This can make it hard to lift and an easy target for bacterial growth.
